We are happy to announce that the 25th anniversary meeting of the Sociocultural Theory and Second Language Learning Research Working Group (SCT-L2 25) meeting will be held on November 1-3, 2018 on the University of Pittsburgh campus in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the site of the first sociocultural research gathering on November 4-5, 1994. This year’s meeting is co-sponsored by:

We welcome proposals for presentations on sociocultural approaches to research on second and foreign language learning, heritage language learning, mutilingualism, and language and culture.
There is no registration fee. The format SCT-L2 25 will follow past practice - presentations of research in progress that is anchored in the seminal works of L.S. Vygotsky and those who work in this theoretical framework. Presentations will be followed by substantive discussion and feedback. Participants will also be able to receive research suggestions and recommendations by those involved in investigating the principled application of sociocultural theory to applied linguistic research, and in particular, second and foreign language learning and teaching.
We hope to see you in November at the University of Pittsburgh to celebrate 25 years of our annual gathering of sociocultural researchers.
